Spray foam insulation
Polyurethane foam is sprayed on as a liquid and expands in place. The result is a continuous layer that bonds to uneven substrates, beams and pipework.
Where spray foam is used
Spray foam suits any situation that calls for a continuous insulating layer where boards would leave too many joints.
- Underside of floors in crawl spaces
- Flat and pitched roofs from the inside
- Barns, warehouses and storage buildings
- Cold stores and freezer rooms
Preparing the substrate
The substrate must be sound, clean and sufficiently dry. Sources of moisture are resolved first; insulating over a moisture problem solves nothing.
Exact resistance and layer build-up depend on the chosen product specification and the application.
Access and ventilation
The work area is masked and ventilated during application. After the agreed waiting time the space can be used again.
Frequently asked questions
- What thickness is needed?
- That follows from the construction, the available space and your goal. We set the thickness after the assessment.
- Does the floor need to be opened up?
- Not if the crawl space is accessible; we work from underneath.
